GM Designer Bill Mitchell took his off the books Corvette racing team to Bermuda to race. He took the experimental SR-2 and the Corvette racers for some fun in the sun. Racing was officially banned at General Motors but Mitchell and others kept it alive by organizing private teams that they supplied with cars.
